Mata Hari An Espionage ?

Spy is an incredible book that perfectly depicts how an innocent, especially a woman is exploited in a world which is ruled by Men. Here I am not being a typical emotional feminist. If you have a closer look around yourself don’t you see how a powerful person manipulates the rights of the others? A woman found herself in a similar situation where she was accused as a spy whereas she was just a theatre performer.

The story is about Mata Hari who is a famous theatre performer. And because of her popularity and beauty, she was welcomed by many high-class officials. Her friends were from a rich background. In short most of her time was spent in cheering the upper class.

But her gloomy days were going off because she was growing old, she was having wrinkles. She even got some white hair. Still, this was not the climax to her journey until she made a wrong decision by accepting an offer to work as a spy. She wasn’t professional espionage, she was moving to a safer place like everyone did during world war 1.

Her mistake was little. Instead of proving herself innocent, she was bragging about her contacts in higher places. In a situation like this even you can expect betrayal from anyone even from your friend. All of her upper-class friends, officials refused to know her. which made the suspect( Mata Hari) even more suspicious.

Later on, after her execution. The prosecutors who made the case admitted that the evidence they got against Mata Hari was not sufficient, so they made up evidence by themselves. According to them that poor evidence wasn’t fit to punish a cat.

This book is based on true events. Even if you want to know more about Mata Hari’s life you can either read this book SPY by Paulo Coelho or you can also search different articles on the history of Mata Hari.
